What Makes a Good Leader?

Posted on

In the book “Ender’s Game” there are many leaders in charge of their own groups. Ender is an example of one and unlike most leaders Ender is a good leader. Ender is a good leader because he knows how to set a plan ready for battle. Secondly, he is a good leader because knows how to understand and see other people’s perspective. Lastly, it is because he not only tries to understand his group but also try see what the enemy might do.

Ender is a good leader because he knows how to set a plan ready for battle. Just by looking into the battle room he knows what plan he has to make. In the book page 177 he says “spread to the near stars, C try to slide the wall. If it works, A and E will follow. If it doesn’t I’ll decide from there. I’ll be with D. Move.” Ender tells how the toon leaders should act and what moves the team will make. There is no confusion or wavering in him.

Secondly, Ender is a good leader because he knows how to understand and see other people’s perspective. In page 275 it says “he would skip from one leader’s point of view to another’s making suggestions and occasionally giving orders as the need arose” Ender, not only sees what he should do but he sees other toon leader’s point of view from time to time so that he can know the overall view of how everything would go on. He is a good leader because he knows what is actually going in the group.

Lastly, Ender is a good leader because even after he wins battle he looks back and tries to see ways to improve in order to make an even better team. In page 281 it says “And not just the particular lessons of that battle, but what the buggers might have done if they had been more clever, and how Ender would react if they did it in the future.” This shows how Ender is a good leader since not only does he think about his group but also what kind of moves the buggers or the enemies might make.

To sum up a good leader knows how to set a plan suit for the battle they are in. Secondly, a good leader knows how to understand the group’s situation and each of the situations the leaders are in. Lastly, a good leader tries to understand how the opponent might react to his moves and Ender is a good leader because he has all the following listed.
