Relating My Philosophy to the Abduction of Persephone

Posted on

My philosophy is to do whatever that the person wants to do at that moment so it can make them happy. This philosophy of mine can be related to the myth of Persephone in ways that can feel a little far-fetched but true. They can be related in the parts of the myth when Persephone ate the pomegranate seeds, when Demeter didn’t do her work withering all the crops and lastly when Persephone could live 6months with Demeter and 6 months with Hades.

The first part where my philosophy relates to the myth of the abduction of Persephone is when she eats 6 pomegranate seeds. This had happened when she heard that she could go back to earth and was happy that she ate food from the underground world. This relates to the part of the philosophy where it says the person who have bought the product will regret after they have bought it because after happiness comes regret on buying such useless things.

The second part where my philosophy relates to the myth is when Demeter stops doing what she should do and tries to look for Persephone killing and withering all her crops. The crops dying and withering can be related to the feeling of how the person can feel of regret after knowing that the product has no use at all to them. Also, when Demeter stops doing her job it can symbolize the great sadness that comes to the people who are regretting.

Finally, the last part where my philosophy can be related to the myth is when in the myth, Zeus finalizes that Persephone should live 6 months with Demeter and 6 months with Hades. In the myth this had happened because Persephone ate the food of the underworld and people who ate food from the underworld cannot come back to earth. The 6 months of staying with Demeter can resemble the happiness of the person when they have first bought the products because when the person first gets the product immediately they are fulfilling their wishes making themselves feel happy; but the 6 months with Hades can resemble the sadness of the people since they might feel such things as regret on why they bought it or feel sad because there is no use of the product.

Therefore in conclusion the myth of the abduction of Persephone can be related to my philosophy because it many ways from the myth, there are similar things that represent or symbolize my philosophy. Firstly it includes when Persephone had eaten the pomegranate seeds, secondly when all the crops had died and withered, and lastly when Persephone could live with Demeter for 6 months and Hades for 6 months.
